On Monday morning, the 25th of September I was getting ready to go to work. I turned on the hall light and out of the corner of my eye I saw something move. At first I thought it was my imagination. Then, I saw him. It was a snake inside of our house. I instantly woke up my son and informed him of what I was seeing. He jumped up and ran outside to get the shovel. We cornered him. We ended his life right then and there. Turns out it was a copperhead. How he got in the house I don't know. Now I am very aware of my every step.
One late November afternoon some years ago after a kiddie birthday party for an only grandchild with grandparents...........our family cat was playing with a snake by the porch. It first appeared to be a Coral Snake. Upon further inspection the snake had red, yellow and black striped markings. After a quick recitation of "red and yellow kill a fellow" verses "red and black is a friend of Jack" it was determined that the snake was in fact a Mexican Milk Snake. When advised that certain folks who might have to work on the plumbing under the house very soon would possibly come face to snout with this critter, it was briefly discussed that this snake would cause more trouble than it was worth, it was quickly dispatched using a Dan Wesson .44 magnum hand cannon. To date no further snakes have been encountered.
