RE: Share info related to Hurricane Gustav

We have two small children and so we decided to leave.  If it were only us we would have probably stayed.  The traffic was a non-issue when we left Sunday morning and when we came back Monday afternoon.  There was no back-up at all and it was great!  We went north and south via Hwy. 69 and there was 100 times less traffic than Lumberton has on a normal day.  Just a handful of cars going along with us.  We don't regret leaving at all.  biggrin

We stayed

The NOAA is the best at predicting hurricane tracks, they predicted this Louisiana landfall from last Wednesday and it never changed much.  I don't know where Crystal Holmes got the idea that Gustav was supposed to hit Beaumont but that idea was completely ridiculous.
We have generators, chainsaws, food and water for a long time.  Not everyone is prepared like us, of course.  With all the troubles people have in evacuating and trying to get past the roadblocks to get back home, we don't even consider leaving unless a Rita is almost on top of us.
It's so nice and peaceful without all those awful thumping bass cars around.  I hope they all stay away.

RE: Share info related to Hurricane Gustav

We decided not to evacuate. As we were watching the news this morning, we were extremely glad that we made that choice. It seems the roads are again just as crowded as the Rita evacuation. weirdface
Now we've heard the mandatory evacuation has been lifted. Not sure if there's any truth to that. But if it's true, our decision to ride it out here was good.biggrin
