ARE YOU PEOPLE SERIOUS YOU MUST THINK THAT THE WHOLE EXSLAVE THING IS A JOKE. I CAN BE CERTAIN THAT EFFECTS OF SLAVERY ARE AS APPARENT AS THEY HAVE EVER BEEN.WE MUST ALL ASK THE QUESTIONS THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO ANSWER LIKE IF I WERE DENIED EDUCATION FOR SAY 300 YEARS WOULD THE COUNTRY AT LARGE BARE ANY RESPONSIILITY FOR MY IGNORANCE? DOES EVERY CITIZEN WHO ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF BEING IN THIS GREAT NATION OWE PAYMENT PLUS INTREST TO ITS FORMER SLAVESFOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS OF FREE NOT CHEAP LABOR? HOW LONG WILL WE INGORE THE ATROCITIES THAT WERE COMMITTIED IN SEARCH FOR GREATER WEALTH FOR THIS NATION? ULTIMATELY WE NEED TO THINK HOW DOES MY PERSONAL ATTITUDE REFLECT THE WORLD THAT I WANT TO LIVE IN AND AM I A WILLING PARTICIPANT IN THIS CRAZY CONSPIRACY TO REINFORCE THE PAST? YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK
I agree with the cutting of programs to those that can afford to work. You do understand that there are rich people of all colors that are receiving FREE monies from our government, so we must also cut these programs. I would appreciate your strategies for cutting back on all government programs for everyone that are receiving them.

I thought racism was a one-way street until I started work in an office where I am one of only a few whites. My coworkers barely acknowledge my presence and won't even return my good morning greetings, yet they smile and laugh and talk happily among themselves. I try to join in and they glare at me until I go away. It's a two-way street, all right.
First, Happy Easter to you and yours. I'll be glad to back off of the subject of only whites have the ability to be rascist so that we can possibly get to some solutions. My goal is to get people to come up with positive solutions. What solution do you have? I know that you have mentioned a few, but I am sure that you have others. Are you willing to share them with other? Let's get down to solutions for all that may or may not be acceptable to all.
1. Animosity towards other races: prejudice or animosity towards people who belong to other races.
2. Belief in racial superiority: the belief that people of different races have different qualities and abilities, and that some races are inherently superior or inferior.
Racist adjective (disapproving)
1. based on racism: based on notions and stereotypes related to race.
2. prejudiced against other races: prejudiced against all people who belong to other races.
noun (plural racists)
racist person: somebody who is racist (disapproving)
As these definitions clearly show, there is no reference to "power" as you suggest. Therefore the notion that only whites can be racists simply because they are the majority race is simply wrong. In fact, your assumption that only whites can be "racists" is in and of itself racist on some level. The bottom line is that the fundamental issue of racism in America becomes extremely diluted when a group of people constantly scream "racism" each and every time something doesn't go their way - it becomes somewhat like the story of the little boy who cried wolf. I think people would be better served using their time and energy finding ways to improve themselves instead of wasting time screaming racism and discrimination anytime they feel like they have been wronged or "dissed". It is up to every individual to make the most of the talents and opportunities that are given to them by God.
First, thank you for your response to the comments that were made by me. One thing that I feel that you and others do not understand is that Racism cannot be perpretrated by African Americans because they do not have the Power to do so. Based on the definition of the term racism, only those that are in the power position can be labled as racist. Those that are not in power can be labled as prejudice, and there are many groups that are prejudice against other groups because of their color; their religion; their sex; or other means of identification. In American, to prevent us from coming up with solutions, we attempt to protray all as racist, but in fact only the white society can be labled this in America. To prevent positive solutions, those in power keep us confused as to the meaning of the word racist and have us arguing back and forth about who is, and who is not a racist. Now that we understand this, let's come up with solutions.
As long as people use "racism" as a crutch or excuse for anything negative that happens to them it will continue to be a problem. I have no doubt people are discriminated against because of the color of their skin, but I think the people who do so are sick-minded people who represent a very, very small segment of the population. Also, racism is not limited to white-on-black discrimination even though this is the type that generates the most passion and gets people all riled up over something that is usually very trivial; there are blacks who don't like whites simply because of skin color; there are whites who don't like Hispanics; there are Hispanics who don't like blacks...the list is endless. The best solution is for people to stop screaming "racism" every time something doesn't go their way - people need to learn that they sometimes don't get jobs because they are unqualified, they sometimes get arrested because they broke the law and that life is not "fair".
